In the 1891 census Alfred May, age 5, was living at 25 Mount Pleasant Rd, Dartford, Kent with his parents Alfred and Eliza May, sister 8-year-old Lydia and brother 3-year-old Alfred.

In 1901, Alfred May, age 15, was a boarder at 115 Hythe St, Dartford, Kent. His occupation was paper mill labourer

Alfred May died of his wounds in the 1st World War on H.M. Hospital Ship "Rewa"
He was a private in the 1st battalion of the Border Regiment.
